Lots of progress today

What a day. We had no fewer than six separate processes going on today. We had the whole street full of parked vehicles. :)

Paul was first on site after dropping off Katie at school, and started hanging doors. Then the installer from Overhead Door showed up and he set to work installing the window panel in the garage door and our garage door opener.

Then the crew from Travis Brothers showed up to start on the retaining wall. They worked all day on that and got half done.

Then a plumber came from Midwest to start the waste pipes. Eventually a second plumber came too and did some work upstairs.

Then Kathy and her mom came to paint millwork.

And then Al came to continue the finish electric.

Paul got all but five of the doors done. With all the activity it was inconvenient to do the basement and laundry room doors, the laundry closet door is a bifold which has a completely different installation routine (and it was dark in there) and the master bedroom closet door and door to the master bath were cut so large that Paul will have to shim them with 1x4s on each side before trying to install the doors. Other than that they're all installed. They'll need patching and the nails countersunk yet though.

All but one bundle of the casing is painted. Paul installed some of it around the patio door, family room and living room windows tonight which Kathy's mom had painted earlier in the day. Looks good.

The plumber didn't make as much progress as we expected; we think they must have spent much of the day just planning out where to put everything. We were hoping they'd have a toilet in by the end of the week so we could return the port-a-potty but I guess we'll see.
