We still don't own the lot........

It's now March 2006. We had already settled on President Homes to help us build the new house. We had the whole house designed, and re-designed, and re-re-designed....It was just about perfect. We were ready to go. But we still didn't own the lot. Near the end of the month, we were told that the Kraegers would be cutting the entire lot down to street level. They were also forced to round off the intersection of 21st and Wood. Originally the plan had called for 21st St. to be extended south past Wood Ave., but that street had never been built and there was only a rough straight end to 21st. The Kraegers asked to have it removed from the city plan, and it was. So the corner needed to be improved to make a cleaner intersection with Wood. The last picture shows this street work being done.

Anyway, they called in the excavators around March 28th, and we went out to "break ground". The first picture is the topsoil stripped off the ground. Then us, taking dirt. The next day, the backhoe arrived.....
