Now with the work done, we waited for the city to approve the new survey map. Months went by. We even considered looking at other lots. We realized there was no way we'd be able to start Katie at the Cedar Hills school, and finally were able to enroll her in St. Roman's parochial school. We put the condo up for sale in July, expecting we might have to move at any time. The condo didn't sell. There was no action on the land purchase, which was probably just as well because without selling the condo we couldn't afford it anyway. Life was getting frustrating.
Fall and winter came, and still no action. Christmas wasn't really happy.
February 2007 came, and suddenly everything happened at once. Our contract with our realtor had ended, and we signed a new one with RK Realtors. Within three weeks, we had a buyer! At the same time, the lot finally became available for sale. Our lender approved us even without having yet sold the condo, and we were nervous, but once the condo was sold we knew everything would fall into place. On February 28 we finally got to stop calling it "Lot 4" because we got our address. :) 2027 W. Wood Avenue. Very good.
We closed on the lot and the contract with President Homes on March 6, just nine days before we had to be out of the condo. We were fortunate to rent another condo in Parnell Woods, just down the lane from our old place, which made moving easier.
Early March was a busy and exciting time, what with moving and buying the lot happening at once, and we felt great when it was done. Now it was time to set our sights on building.
