The heavy wire and other materials missing from the wire delivery arrived via courier on Friday. Paul advised Jeff to come pick these up.
Anyway, so we spent our weekend making our shower. On Saturday we followed the directions in our new book and fit the shower pan liner into the floor. Then we sealed the drain pipe and filled it up with five gallons of water. And then we left.
The next day we returned, to find all the surrounding floors and the basement bone dry. Our pan was holding water. :-) Yay! We had a good shower pan. We went to work to finish up laying strips of liner material in the wall corners as per code, and then stapled up 4 mil poly sheeting over all the walls for additional protection. These are to protect the walls in case water were to get behind the cement backerboard that is the base for the tile.
When we were done we had a dark plastic room. Hope the inspector approves it tomorrow. Likely he'll find a reason to fail it, they always do. :-) The rough carpentry inspection is also scheduled and we see no reason it won't pass.
So then we went to work on the locksets to lock up the house for the first time. We were 67% successful. The Pella doors delivered by President Homes (garage to house and garage to outside) were all cut out and ready for lockset installation. This went quickly and easily; it is straightforward. With the front door we did not have as much success. The large holes were drilled for the deadbolt and the doorknob, and the holes were drilled for the bolts; but they were not chiseled out to hold the bolt plates. We drilled a small hole in the door for the bottom shaft of the handleset, but that was as far as we got. So the house still isn't lockable. We'll have to see if we can get some help chiseling out the door so we can install those plates and so the house will finally be weathertight and lockable.
So that's it for the weekend. Monday we expect rain and no activity except inspections, unless the electrician comes to fix the stove. Keeping fingers crossed.
