Rough plumbing

It absolutely poured Monday night. At midnight Paul went out and found a quarter inch of water on the floor. Yikes. It had come in through the crown of the roof, an open window and the front door. It was creepy walking around in the dark in the water with showers all around. Didn't even feel like being in a house. More like a cave.
He went again at 7:00 on a sunny Tuesday morning and found the floor mostly dry except for a puddle in the master bath. It was really dirty though and the floor wasn't as smooth as it had been. Too bad we didn't have our roof. It'll be okay though.
The HVAC guys came midmorning and installed some flexible ductwork, vents and the thermostat wire in the hallway. That was it. Also the roofing and siding were delivered. Impressively, somehow whoever did the delivery got bundles of shingles up on the roof. We're not going to ask how, we don't want to know.....

Today the plumber came to start rough plumbing. They brought everything with them that they needed, for which we're sure we will pay a handsome price. :-/ But at least it and they are here. Elliott, the plumber, called at 7:30 to discuss where things would be going. Paul was just out of the shower and getting dressed at the time, so he went out fifteen minutes later to meet the plumber and give them the full size plan we left for the HVAC guys yesterday morning. We decided that the sump pump would be going in the front and stacks near the half bath and the full baths. Dunno how that's going to work yet with the basement plans Kathy laid out, but we can make closets and/or walls around them to hide them.
They installed some CPVC stubs for the water lines and drilled holes for the stacks. Kathy was onsite midday and Elliott informed her that one floor joist was located in the way of the half bath's toilet and would have to be moved. Paul called Shawn to have him come out in the morning and fix. Also talked to the roofer, they won't be out until Friday morning. Ah well, that's fine.
Other than that it seems things went fairly smoothly. Paul took lots of pictures to remind us where everything is going, otherwise we'll forget ourselves. And now the whole world can know too. :)

And that's it for the main level. Paul went into the basement for the first time since framing began, because the plumber had left his ladder here. The basement is a dark, muddy mess. The good news is that the plumber used the newly-installed sump pump to pump out the 4" of standing water in the basement, which was very cool.

A good look at how the first cap is built. The sill plate, bolted to the top of the foundation wall, is barely visible. The joists sit on the sill plates, running the entire width of the house from front to back. The floor sits on top of the joists, and OSB covers all sides of the cap.

Half bath and laundry room CPVC water lines hanging down. The pipes at the fixtures are short copper studs bonded to the CPVC after a few inches.

Muddy mess under basement window. We will need to visit at some point how the window well will drain, because this can't run into the basement like this.

The dark scary cavern that is our basement today, as taken from under the kitchen. Obviously the flash won't carry 68 feet. :) There won't be another picture of it until the floor is paved next Monday. Maybe not even until the electrician installs lights.

Tomorrow we expect completion of rough plumbing and for Shawn to fix the floor. He has another reason to come back - we are missing two 6x6 poles. One pad has nothing standing on it, the other has a badly curved 2x4. We only ordered one additional 6x6 but we'll have to call Bob for another.

That's it. See you tomorrow
