Busy day

The framers are pretty much done. We went to look at the house at 7 this morning, and went over the list of open issues. The framing is pretty much done. The arches in the dining room and family room needed to be done, and Shawn was to handle those today. The windows and doors needed to be installed but were not yet on site. The whirlpool needed framing to be set into, and the fireplace needed a box to sit on. So we hashed over that for awhile, called Bob for the dimensions of our fireplace, and settled on having it a foot off the floor. We took off to retrieve the front door from storage and with much difficulty it was brought on site. We gave the crew lunch money to thank them for the work and took off.

Later that afternoon we returned. Only two of the crew were left, completing window installation. It was almost done. Also arches were installed over the family room shelving and the big arches in the dining room passageway. He didn't do the passageways on either side of the fireplace or either side of the pantry. That will have to be complete before drywall.

Later in the afternoon Paul finally reached Rich, the plumber, and the HVAC guys are coming tomorrow to start their work. They'll have all the underground plumbing done by the end of the week. Major problem though: We realized we never ordered the plumbing materials. That's bad. The plumber will supply the materials needed for this week's work and bill us, but we'll have to talk to Bob in the morning to get this straightened out.

Also, a full size plan set went to the electrician We forgot the mechanical plan. Rats. Have to leave that for him when he shows up. He doesn't have to come until next week after the basement floor is paved.

A small plan set was mailed to a drywall company for a bid.

And that's all for the day. Possible high stress day tomorrow as we deal with the plumbing supply mishap, see how the underground plumbing is coming, expect the delivery of roofing and siding materials and hope the house isn't too wet after tonight's thunderstorms.

Here are some pictures. Adding the windows really made a huge difference.
