Plenty has been going on on the planning front.
Our electrician called Monday to say he was going out of business because of uncollectible receivables and wouldn't be doing our job. Great. Now we have to find a new electrician.
A letter came from President Homes to remind us we needed to pay for future materials before they would be ordered and delivered. After multiple phone calls to Bob, the escrow company and the mortgage company, it was determined that President would bill the mortgage company directly, which always paid immediately, and materials would be sent without delay. This was excellent news, as Paul had scheduled the roofer for Wednesday, June 20. In the interim, the windows were scheduled to arrive on Monday the 18th. That meant the front door we ordered from Menards about six years ago and waiting in storage could finally be installed.
Yeah, those windows. To Paul's considerable annoyance, it was determined that we should look into replacing the living room picture window with one that goes as far down as the corner bedroom, for "balance". We'll look into the cost of that in the morning.
Paul's been calling around looking for a concrete contractor to do the flatwork because we don't know if we want Elite to come back to do it. There's been no contact about the footing to date, and Paul is getting mighty annoyed about it. But nobody has gotten back to him yet, and he's annoyed about that too. Paul is rather annoyed lately. :-) Keeping our spirits buoyed is the fact that work is proceeding very well on the framing, and the weather is perfect. Hope this holds out for the roofing.
We will need to contact the plumber tomorrow to remind him to think about coming in, and keep trying to get a concrete guy. If we can't get one by the end of the week we'll have to have Elite come in because we're running out of time.
Ah well. That's enough until tomorrow.
