The foundation, part 9.

All right, Memorial Day weekend is over and it's time to get back to work. A little scare this morning. Paul called for the inspection of the foundation first thing this morning, and the inspector asked about whether the steel beams were installed. What steel beams?! We didn't know anything about steel beams. Oh god, don't let this screw up the timing.......
Paul called Bob at President, who was just as puzzled. He thought the inspector must have been referring to the main beam of the house, but ours isn't going to be steel. It's LVL, and the framer was supposed to install it. Called back the inspector, who said that he was talking about the main beam. All right. He was okay with the framer installing an LVL beam, so the inspection is on for late this afternoon. Probably should have verified an exact time, but oh well. We can check back later maybe.

Stopped by the lot around nine and found a crew of four at work, roughly half finished shoveling stone into the pit and attaching sheets of insulation to the outsides of the walls. Good deal, but whew, it's hot today. Took pictures and took off, then returned with a cooler full of soda and water for the crew. Then off to work.

(later)
Paul returned to the lot at 3:30 to find an empty cooler (Wow....all twelve drinks gone. That was one thirsty crew), the work completed and looking good, and a green inspection sticker wrapped around a lag bolt on the front wall of the garage. Our foundation was approved. Excellent. Too bad we weren't there to meet the inspector but that doesn't matter, it's all good.

Backfill tomorrow.
