The foundation, part 1.

It was early April and we still didn't have a foundation contractor. None of the contractors from President Homes' list had ever gotten back to us, and it was time to get somebody. Paul hit the yellow pages, and found that one redi-mix company could actually supply a list of qualified contractors. So we called them, got a few guys and solicited bids. They came in, and we were shocked - they were all $5,000 and more over budget. This was really, really bad. We worried over our funds.
Then Elite Concrete called asking if we had gotten a bid from them. We invited them to give me one. It arrived via e-mail, and it was right in our budget. Whew. We accepted it immediately, and finally we were ready to go. Or so we thought. Paul called Port-a-John to get a portapotty on site, and filed applications with WE Energies for electric and gas. They got in touch to locate the gas and electric meters, and sent me cards to return when I was ready for them to come in and install them. Good deal.

We, Travis Brothers and Elite worked on coordinating our schedules, and finally decided that April 18 would be the day to dig the foundation, and two days later Elite would set the footings. The big day came, and first thing in the morning the excavation crew came out. Look at that nice hole.
