The foundation, part 2: Delays, delays, delays. Again.

April 20 came, and with it came rain. And no crew to work on footings. We called. They told us Tuesday.
Tuesday came. It rained. No footings crew.

April 25. They assured us they would definitely get the footings in place early the next week. That was May 1. Then it became May 2 or 3. Fine.

On Sunday, April 29 they suddenly realized they didn't have a house plan or survey. I wonder how they planned to do the job way back on the 20th without a plan. Hmmm. Perhaps they never intended to do the work then, and have been righteously screwing me over and letting our pit get sloppy and wet? Wish we had thought of this much sooner.......

April 30. Paul drove to their shop in Racine County to supply the house plan and survey. Rain has been continuing sporadically every few days.

May 2. Now Bob, our construction coordinator with President Homes (he arranges for timing of materials delivery) is wondering why there's no action on our job. We wish we knew. Kathy is having a fit over the constant delays and demanding the contract be terminated. Bob tells us that it's likely everyone is running behind because of the weather. We accept the explanation for the time being.

May 3. No activity. That does it. Now heads are gonna roll. Paul called one of the people who gave us a bid last month. He was too busy now to take on the job, but knew some who weren't. We called. They could be in the next Monday if we wanted. We e-mailed him a plan.
After this the scheduler at Elite and Paul had, shall we say, a frank and open exchange of ideas via e-mail. We finally managed to drag it out of her that we were third in line for having our walls poured. Hmmmmmmm again.
Well, too late to worry about it now. She told us they would be setting footings on Monday, May 7 and wall pour one week later. Fine.
